"Old Friends, Old Wounds" is the 13th and final episode of Season 3 of Road to Avonlea and the 39th episode overall.

Summary

The sudden death of Marilla Cuthbert devastates Rachel Lynde and leaves her to look after Davey, Dora and Green Gables on her own. To make matters worse, Rachel learns that Green Gables is to be sold and that distant relations want to take away Dora, but not Davey Keith because he’s too much trouble.

Behind the scenes

• This episode was created due to Colleen Dewhurst's death from cervical cancer in August 1991. Marilla's on-screen appearance had to be pieced together via footage from previous episodes, Anne of Green Gables (1985), and the 1989 film Lantern Hill.
