Trivia

  • The 2012 version of the official Road to Avonlea website described Muriel Stacey as the long time rival of Hetty King, she won the ‘Gold Graduation Medal’, something that the competitive pair both coveted. Muriel became the school teacher for Avonlea, and received high praise for her two star students; Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe. She was later promoted to Superintendant of Schools, which only annoyed Hetty further. She traveled abroad for awhile and visited many locations across the globe, but eventually settled back in Avonlea, when the Lawson’s moved to New Brunswick she also purchased the general store. She met her future husband at the 1st Annual Bachelors auction, where she bid and won him. Clive proposed to Muriel, but this put a strain on the relationship between Clive and Izzy. Izzy eventually grew to accept her, and Clive and Muriel were married in Carmody, and later relocated to Halifax.[1]
  • The famous Miss Stacy line from Anne of Green Gables, "the truth will set you free", was actually taken from the archway at Victoria College which was used as a set for portions of the film.
