Matthew Cuthbert is the brother of Marilla Cuthbert, the adoptive father of Anne Shirley, and the resident of Green Gables.

Portrayal

• Wayne Robson provided the voice of Matthew in Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series (2000–2001) and Anne: Journey to Green Gables (2005). He debuts in "Carrots!", the first episode of the series. Robson also portrayed Amos Spry in Road to Avonlea (1990–1996).

Trivia

• The Annetoon website describes him as, Matthew is Marilla’s bachelor brother and Anne’s adoptive father. Shy and gentle, Matthew likes to avoid confrontation. But he’s pretty good at giving advice in a kind way that’s easy to take – unlike most adults!
