When Rosetta Ellis discovers that her widowed cousin Jane is dying, she rushes over to Charlottetown to claim guardianship over her six-month-old baby, who she names Camilla Jane. Yet, when Rosetta's estranged sister, Charlotte, makes an appearance and demands to take the child instead, things begin to take an ugly turn.
