Abigail MacEwan (née Ward) was the sister of Janet King, the wife of Malcolm MacEwan, the adoptive mother of Lucky, and the aunt of Felicity, Felix, Cecily and Daniel King.

Biography[]

Abigail's father was overprotective of his daughters and turned down her suitor, Malcolm MacEwen, due to Malcolm's financial status.

After striking gold in the Yukon, Malcolm returned to Avonlea and asked Abigail to marry him. The two of them ended up in an argument but she ended up accepting Malcom's proposal. Short time later, they adopted Lucky and moved to the Yukon, but returned to Avonlea again in 1911.

When back in Avonlea, Abigail was shocked to find that her home was damaged in a storm.

Trivia

  • The 2012 version of the official Road to Avonlea website described her thus: Janet King’s sister Abigail first appears in "Aunt Abigail's Beau". The Ward sisters’ upbringing was very strict, and their father Walter forbade Abigail from seeing her suitor Malcolm.

Abigail was heartbroken, and remained unmarried, until Malcolm returns to Avonlea with his newly-made fortunate from the Yukon Gold Rush. The Ward sisters are close, but like most sisters, occasionally have incidents of sibling rivalry. Abigail and Malcolm adopt a baby, named Lucky, and return periodically to visit Avonlea.
