Davey Keith was the son of Mary Keith, the ward of Marilla Cuthbert, Rachel Lynde and Hetty King, and the twin brother of Dora.

Trivia

• The 2012 version of the official Road to Avonlea website described him thus: Davey and his sister Dora were both orphaned when their mother Mary passed away. Dora and Davey had an Uncle Willy, who was in prison at the time, so they were sent to live with Marilla Cuthbert - who was a cousin of their mothers - and Rachel Lynde at Green Gables. Davey is very different from his sister Dora, Davey is prone to getting himself in trouble, while Dora is very quiet and introverted. Dora was often burdened with the task of keeping Davey out of trouble, an almost impossible feat. Davey’s mischievous ways almost cost Marilla and Rachel their friendship. However, Rachel eventually warmed to the troublesome Davey.
  
  Davey struggled in school for some time, with the cause being attributed to either laziness or apathy towards his school work. But it was Sara who discovered Davey was actually illiterate, and she promised to help him with his reading abilities. However, in spite of his new tutor Davey continued to get into trouble, after playing on a roof, the site of the dangerous act caused Rachel Lynde to have a stroke, and he and Dora were sent to live with Hetty King at Rose Cottage. Rachel eventually returned to live with the twins at Rose Cottage, and the twins helped her recover. Davey lived with Rachel and Hetty and eventually left to join the military and fought in the First World War.
